WORKING TOGETHER

Creating long term value

The most crucial aspect of developing any property is the team. At UrbanDev we understand this, and have been working with experts and world leading authorities with regards to best local and international practises. Most of the projects that we have been involved in includes different spheres of government, local to national.

From a finance point of view, we access both the financial institutions as well as property funds and private investors.

All our projects are BEE compliant as to ownership and profit sharing. The social value that is added will benefit the neighbouring residents, businesses and services that can supply and employ them. It thus offers the opportunity to give something to community and public interests as well as to private investors.

ADDING VALUE

Value will be added, either through value of use, as a service and value of exchange - either economically or with regards to social benefits, such as education.

Socio-Economic Development
Job Creation & Empowerment, Skills Transfer

Socio-Economic Development - Job Creation & Empowerment
Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical structures required for the operation of a society. By its definition, infrastructure is intimately linked to improving the quality of life of people. Socio-Economic Development (SED), which can be defined as social and economic inclusion, is based on sustainable social and economic development, using sustainable infrastructure as its tool, which in turn aims at improving the quality of life of people in current and future generations. Essentially, infrastructure development and SED have the same objective and are just two linked approaches to satisfying the same social needs.
Socio-Economic Development

Our unique approach to infrastructure development creates both integrated and sustainable transformation in critical infrastructure sectors. The desired development impact outcomes, apart from the infrastructure created, depends entirely on the ability to manage implementation effectively. We believe that meaningful social, local and economic transformation hinges on five key capabilities, listed below:

Local Economic Development (LED) Design and Implementation;

  • Socio-economic Development (SED) Design and Implementation;
  • Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD);
  • Social Investment Project Design, Implementation and Fund Management;
  • Monitoring and Evaluation.

The SED capability, executed through Jomat Investments, utilises a standardised process designed as a guide for each phase of an infrastructure project. The proposed methodology to deliver SED is integrated in each of the following project phases:

Monitoring and Evaluation Framework

In order to understand the impact of a project, it is important to monitor the various outputs. These outputs will be required to be reported on at different stages of the project. The evaluation enables reflection on the project and facilitates improvement going forward. Supporting this project to ensure maximum impact, a online Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework will be used to keep all parties up to date at all times.
